WILLIAMSTOWN - The Tufts University golf team is 11th out of 19 teams after the first round of play at the Williams Fall Invitational held at the par-71 Taconic Golf Club on Saturday.
Tufts' four best scores totaled to 318 strokes. They sit just one stroke behind 10th place Hamilton (317) and five in back of ninth-place Amherst (313). Rhode Island College in 12th place is on the Jumbos' heels with a 320 score.
Senior co-captain Taylor Nordan was the lone Jumbo to shoot in the 70s on Saturday, recording a five-over 76. He's tied for 15th individually entering Sunday.
Freshman Alex Honigford scored second for Tufts with an 80. Sophomore Brandon Karr and freshman Harry Theodore both shot 81s to round out the Jumbo team total. Senior co-captain Aaron Corn is also playing for Tufts and shot 82 today.
Trinity College leads the tournament after one day with a 294 team score. Host Williams is a close second at 295 and Middlebury is third (299). Bantam Will Rosenfield is the low individual with a three-under 68 on Saturday.
Sunday play is set to begin at 9:00 a.m.
