Tufts Women's Squash Defeats Smith, Loses to Mount Holyoke for Saturday Split

SOUTH HADLEY - The Tufts women's squash team went 1-1 on Saturday, with a 6-3 victory over Smith first and a 9-0 loss to host Mount Holyoke later. The Jumbos are now 2-1 overall following their opening weekend

Senior co-captain Alyse Vinoski (West Hartford, CT) had the best day for the Jumbos. She won her Smith match in three games, and then went to four games before losing against Mount Holyoke. She was the only Jumbo to extend her Mount Holyoke opponent to more than three games.

Against Smith, first-year Paige Dahlman (Denver, CO) broke a 1-1 tie by winning the third and fourth games to win the #3 match. Junior Risa Meyers (New York, NY) did the same in the seventh match. Junior Madison Newbound (Williamstown, MA) had the most impressive win for Tufts, allowing 14 points to her opponent in the #9 match.

The Jumbos will return to action on December 1 when they take on Boston College.
