Boris Sorkin, Men's Tennis

Boris advanced to the NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis Singles Championship Match on May 30. He had begun NCAA singles play on May 28, winning his Round of 32 match versus North Carolina Wesleyan's Roberto Puig 6-4, 6-0. Moving on to the Sweet 16 later that day, he eliminated Ian Yi from Kalamazoo College who retired in the second set. Sorkin was leading 6-3, 3-0. Continuing his run on May 29, Sorkin - the fifth seed in the tournament- won 6-3, 6-2 against third-seed Vishnu Joshi from Johns Hopkins in the quarterfinals. He then came back in the afternoon for the semifinals and authored a 6-1, 7-5 victory against #1 seed Ethan Hillis from Washington University in St. Louis. Sorkin was defeated in a hard-fought NCAA final in three sets by Carleton College #4 seed Leo Vithoontien 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.
