Softball Alumna is First Woman to Lead Winning Democratic Presidential Campaign

Jennifer O'Malley Dillon spoke at a Tufts Athletics women's career forum in October 2017.

MEDFORD - Tufts University softball alumna Jennifer O’Malley Dillon was the campaign manager for the winning 2020 presidential campaign of Joe Biden. She is the first woman ever to run a winning Democratic presidential campaign.

A native of Franklin, Massachusetts, Dillon was a member of the first two Tufts softball teams to earn NCAA Tournament berths in 1997 and 1998. She played first base for the Jumbos and was a captain of the team as a senior. Her 33 career doubles remain in  the all-time top 10 for the team, and she’s also in the team’s top 20 for career RBIs (95). Her 148 career hits are just outside of the top 20 all-time.

Dillon remains a staunch supporter of the Jumbos. Her Twitter feed indicates she's a proud alum of @TuftsSoftball. In October 2017 O’Malley Dillon participated in a Tufts University Women's Student-Athlete and Alumnae Networking Event.

"I am absolutely who I am today in part because of Tufts softball," O’Malley Dillon said to the Tufts Daily last April. “The leadership experience and being part of teams are a really big part of my background. Tufts softball was just one of those really critical things about my life.”

“Athletics was such an important part of my life, which helped shape the person I am today,” she also told Time Magazine recently. “There is so much to learn from being part of a team, working together for a united goal.
