Dan Gentzler is the interim equipment manager at Tufts (since February 2022) and also assistant coach of the men's hockey team.
Gentzler is a 2015 graduate of Colgate where he played 110 games during a four-year career with the Raiders. Since graduating from Colgate, the Manhattan Beach, California native played professionally with the Macon Mayhem of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) from 2015-18. He scored a total of 120 points in 151 games over the course of three seasons with the team. Named an assistant captain as a rookie and promoted to captain in 2017-18, Gentzler was selected to the 2018 All-SPHL second team on defense. He played for the 2017 Mayhem team that won the SPHL championship.
Moving up to the college coaching ranks after some success at the youth level, he most recently has been coaching the LA Junior Kings U12 AAA team where they had a perfect 14-0 record before he accepted the Tufts job. Among the camps he's worked includes five years as the head coach and co-director of the Bebee Hockey Camp in El Segundo, California.
Before attending Colgate, Gentzler played for the Surrey Eagles of the British Columbia League in 2010-11. He served as an alternate captain and won the team's "Hardest Worker" award. He also played for the Wichita Falls Wildcats in the North American Hockey League, and for the LA Junior Kings, where he was team captain.
