An 18-year member of the Tufts Athletics stafff, Dan Kopcso was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director on January 22. In addition to continuing his role as Director of Sports Performance, he will take on a variety of administrative duties for the department. Some of those duties include assigning and managing coaches’ secondary duties, overseeing the staffing and security of our indoor spaces, and serving as a member of the senior administrative staff.
Kopcso oversees a three-man Strength & Conditioning staff. In addition to working directly with a number of varsity teams, Kopcso's responsibilities include overseeing the Ames Human Performance Center and the Varsity Weight Room at Tufts' Steve Tisch Sports and Fitness Center. He has been fortunate to have worked with countless great Jumbos student-athletes, including half a dozen individual national champions and ten national championship teams. Kopcso also teaches the popular Advanced Principles of Exercise Class.
He earned his bachelor’s degree from Babson College and has a Master’s degree in Exercise Science from Springfield College. He also earned his CSCS and USAW level-1 coaching certificates.
In addition to his coaching for the Jumbos, he has worked at Springfield College, Mike Boyle Strength & Conditioning, Athletic Evolution, Boston College, Harvard University and also spent two summers in the NFL working for the Buffalo Bills.
He resides in Concord with his wife, Lauren and their sons, Jack and James.
