Former three-time New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) All-Conference first team selection Joey Kizel has been hired as an assistant coach on the Tufts University men's basketball staff.

Kizel is a 2014 graduate of Middlebury College where he captained the men's basketball team for the 2013-14 season. He was a Preseason All-American in 2013 after receciving D3hoops Honorable Mention All-American accolades for 2012-13. In addition to his All-Conference honors, Kizel was a three-time NESCAC All-Academic Team member (2012-2014). The Panther teams he played on reached the Division III Final Four (2011), Sweet Sixteen (2012) and Elite Eight (2013). He scored 1,493 points in his career and is currently the program's all-time leader for three-point percentage (.438), #2 in career free throw percentage (.818) and #4 all-time with 487 assists.

From 2017-19 Kizel was at the University of Texas earning a Master's in Sport Management while also working with the Longhorns as a graduate assistant coach. Since 2019 he has been the video coordinator for the Northern Kentucky University men's basketball team.

Originally from Short Hills, New Jersey and Millburn HS, Kizel played professionally in Israel after graduating from Middlebury.
