HARTFORD - Tufts Rowing posted strong finishes across the board today at the fall-season opening Head of the Riverfront on the Connecticut River.
The men's varsity eight took the overall win to lead the program, finishing with a winning time of 13:48.27 over the 2.5-mile course. That was nearly six seconds ahead of perennial NESCAC rival Wesleyan University. Tufts' men's 2v finished strongly in fifth overall (14:11.75), ahead of several first varsity crews and all other second varsity boats in the race. The Jumbo third varsity and fourth varsity crews finished seventh and 10th out of 15 crews in the race, a demonstration of the depth of Coach George Munger's young team.
Tufts' winning eight sat bow Alex Williams, 2 Nicolas Briano, 3 Alex Maykel, 4 Liam Jenkins, 5 Ryan Hankins, 6 Gonzalo Escajadillo, 7 William Landers and stroke John Griffin with coxswain Rachel Halliday.
