Men's Rowing Races In Three Preliminary Events Friday at IRA's

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. - The Tufts University men's rowing team competed three times at the 2022 Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) Championships on Friday at Mercer Lake.

Tufts' first varsity eight, one of seven national qualifiers for the first-ever IRA Division III Championship this season, first competed in a race for lanes on Friday morning. The Jumbos did well, recording a 6:04.685 time that was second out of the seven teams. Only Williams College finished faster than the Jumbos, with their 6:02.437 mark just a shade over two seconds in front of the Jumbos.

The finish placed the Jumbos in lane 5 for the IRA Division III Championship race on Saturday at 11:40 am.

Racing for Tufts' first varsity today was Rachel Halliday (cox), Nick Kuranda, David Gantt, Max Landers, Alex Williams, John Griffin, Ryan Hankins, Eoghan Downey and Henry Ross.

Tufts also had an entry in the varsity four on Friday, which competed in a time trial in the morning. Their 6:38.393 time was 24th in the time trail, which put them into the fourth and fifth level semifinals later on Friday. In that race they timed 6:48.421 for third place out of four. That put them in the fourth level final on Saturday morning at 10:30 am.

The Jumbo four had Rachel Weinberg (cox), George Lakis, Harrison Sweet, Spenser Walsh and Teddy Schneider.
