Van Brewer Selected To Academic All-District® Men’s Soccer Team

MEDFORD - Recent Tufts University graduate Travis Van Brewer was selected to the 2020-21 Academic All-District® Men's Soccer Team, selected by CoSIDA.

Recognizing the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom, the CoSIDA Academic All-District® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. The CoSIDA Academic All-District® teams are divided into geographic districts across the United States and Canada. Van Brewer is one of 12 players on the NCAA Division III District I (Massachusetts and Maine) Team.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic canceling many college soccer seasons, this year's academic squads were selected based on career accomplishments. Van Brewer is one of just three NESCAC players to receive Academic All-District® honors this year.

This is the fourth straight year that Jumbo players have received the award. Gavin Tasker and Brett Rojas both earned 2019-20 Academic All-District® Team recognition, Tasker also received it for 2018-19 and Dexter Eichhorst and Kevin Halliday earned the recognition in 2017-18.

From Wilbraham, Massachusetts, Van Brewer graduated with a degree in civil engineering at Tufts. Since joining the Jumbos in 2017, he played in 65 games and started 53 for a team that posted an outstanding 53-4-9 record during that time. He started at midfield for the 2018 and 2019 Tufts teams that won NCAA Division III National Championships.

Van Brewer was a NESCAC All-Conference 2nd Team pick in 2019 after scoring three goals with five assists for 11 points. He tallied three goals and seven assists as a sophomore starter, and also started 12 games as a freshman and scored three goals with two assists. That adds up to career totals of nine goals with 14 assists for 32 points.

Additionally, Van Brewer earned NESCAC All-Academic Team honors (3.5 GPA +) three times in 2018, 2019 and 2020. He also received Tufts' Earl F. Littleton Graduate Fellowship awarded to one civil engineer annually.

Van Brewer advances to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early July.
