Marley Wins D Singles, Teams With Vuksanovic for B Doubles Win at Bates

Corey Marley LEWISTON, Maine - Sophomore Corey Marley (pictured) won the D singles title and teamed with freshman Vuk Vuksanovic to win the B doubles crown for the Tufts University men's tennis team at the Wallach Invitational hosted by Bates College on Sunday.

D singles had three Jumbos in the semifinals - Marley, senior Dylan Glickman and sophomore Oliver Obeid. After defeating the lone non-Jumbo among the final four - Bates' James Liam Dun - in the semis 6-1, 6-4, Marley won 4-6, 6-3, 10-3 against teammate Obeid in the final. Obeid had won 2-6, 6-3, 10-8 over Glickman in the semifinals.

Jumbos had three of the four semifinal spots in B doubles as well. Marley and Vuksanovic defeated senior co-captain Jack Moldenhauer and Obeid in the semis 8-5. They won the bracket by eliminating #1 seed and teammates Rishabh Sharda and Glickman 8-3.

Sharda was a finalist in A singles, but lost to Tristan Bradley from Bowdoin on Sunday 6-2, 6-1. Junior Josh Belandres also played in the B singles final, falling to Colby's Sam Henry 6-4, 2-6, 10-4.

Tufts closes the fall portion of its schedule next weekend (Oct. 16-17) at the Wesleyan Invitational.
