CLERMONT, Fla. – A four-run fourth inning helped the Tufts University softball team to a 7-3 victory over Hamilton College on Sunday in Florida. Tufts improved to 3-0 with the win while the Continentals fell to 2-1.

In the fourth, three Hamilton errors helped build the Tufts lead to 6-0. Sophomore catcher Sofia Molina had Tufts' only hit of the inning. Ground balls by junior LF Emily Serata and sophomore 2B Emma Della Volpe brought home runs.
Jumbo sophomore starter Kristina Haghdan had got through the first three innings scoreless before Hamilton rallied for one with two outs in the fourth. Senior 1B Helen Lin singled to left and scored after a walk, a hit-by-pitch and another walk to sophomore pinch hitter Anna Rasmussen.
Tufts advanced to a 7-1 lead in the fifth inning with another triple by Cain scoring Molina, who had reached by fielder's choice.
Hamilton capped the scoring with two unearned runs aided by two Jumbo miscues in the bottom of the seventh. Junior CF Emily Fraser hit an rbi single.
The Jumbos scored seven runs despite getting just four hits. Stevens scored twice. Haghdan earned the win with four innings giving up three hits and one run with two walks and two K's. Sophomore Kristi Van Meter pitched the final three innings and allowed two hits and no earned runs for a save.
Fraser was 2 for 4 for Hamilton. Freshman starter Morgan Hartranft took the loss after allowing two hits and two runs with three walks and a strikeout in three innings.
Tufts plays Rutger-Camden and Hamiliton faces Farmingdale State later on Sunday.
