DiCocco is Softball's First All-American Since 2017

MEDFORD - Sophomore pitcher Sophia DiCocco of the Tufts University softball team received National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America honors today, making the third team.

DiCocco pitched in 33 of Tufts' 48 games this season and made 27 starts with 21 complete games. She finished with an 18-6 record, 1.08 earned run average, 93 strikeouts and just 13 walks in 181.2 innings.

The NCAA Division III statistical leaders list won't update until after the NCAA Finals in Virginia end, but DiCocco has top 30 numbers in several offensive categories. Her 0.50 walks per seven innings is one of the nation's best numbers. Her 0.83 walks and hits to innings pitched ratio should also be one of the country's best marks. Other noteable numbers for DiCocco are her three saves and a 7.15 strikeouts to walks ratio.

NESCAC Pitcher of the Year and an All-Conference first team selection, DiCocco earns her first All-American honor and the team's first since 2017. She was also a first team NFCA All-Region honoree.

Head coach Lauren Ebstein's Jumbos finished 36-12, hosted and won an NCAA Regional and were the NESCAC runner-up.
