MEDFORD - The Tufts University women's fencing team has made an appearance at #3 in the U.S. Fencing Coaches Association (USFCA) Mid-Season Division III poll released yesterday.
Head Coach David Sach's team is at #3 behind #1 Johns Hopkins and #2 NYU. Wellesley, Stevens, MIT, Vassar and Brandeis follow the Jumbos as the top eight teams are ranked.
Tufts has a 8-3 record thus far for the 2021-22 season, including victories over MIT and Brandeis among the ranked teams. They also have a win over the Denison University team that is receiving votes in the poll.
Victory leaders for the Jumbos so far this season are Kaitlyn Gill (pictured) in epee with a 19-6 record (.760), Sydnee Lau and Lea Levi both with 13-6 marks (.684) in foil and Rachel Roh at 17-10 (.630) in sabre. Tufts has competed at a Northeast Fencing Conference (NFC) meet hosted by MIT on November 20, and then at the NU Duals at Northwestern on November 21.
The Jumbos return to action on Sunday with an NFC meet hosted by Wellesley College.
