Women's Tennis Begins New Season at MIT Invitational

CAMBRIDGE - The Tufts University women's tennis team opened the fall portion of its 2021-22 season today at the MIT Invitational. The Jumbos, the Engineers, Amherst and Wesleyan are playing.

Senior Anna Lowy, juniors Tilly Rigby and Maddie Suk and freshman Elle Christensen each advanced into the singles round of 16 to be played on Saturday. In doubles, the Jumbo pairs of Suk with Rigby (seeded third) and Casey Cummings with Christensen moved into the quarterfinal round. Scores were not available at the time of this release.

Nicki Frankel and Michelle Shub both won singles preliminary matches before losing in the round of 32.

On Saturday, Tufts' singles matches will feature Christensen versus MIT's Kimberly Liao, Rigby (seeded second) going against Ashley Teng from MIT, Suk facing Amy Cui of Amherst and Lowy versus Caitlyn Ferrante of Wesleyan. Singles action begins on Satudray at 9 AM.

The Cummings / Christensen doubles duo from Tufts plays #1 seeded Kristina Yu and Sophie Henderson from Wesleyan on Saturday. Rigby and Suk go against Wesleyan's Katie Fleishman and Renna Mohsen-Breen.
