Two in Singles, One Doubles Pair for Women's Tennis Still Playing at MIT

CAMBRIDGE - Tilly Rigby and Elle Christensen in singles and Christensen with Casey Cummings in doubles from the Tufts University women's tennis team advanced to Sunday at the MIT Invitational.

Christensen and Cummings will play in the doubles final. In the quarterfinals on Saturday they defeated the #1 seed Kristina Yu and Sophie Henderson from Wesleyan 8-4. Then they advanced to the final past Serim Jin and Sasha Gaeth from Wesleyan 8-6. The Jumbo duo will play Jackie Bukzin and Mia Kintrioglu of Amherst in the final.

In singles, Christensen also defeated the #1 seed on Saturday. She started the day with a 6-2, 7-5 final versus Kimberly Liao from MIT in the round of 16. The Tufts freshman then topped #1 seed Bukzin 6-3, 6-3 in the quarters. Christensen will play Sarah Pertsemlidis of MIT in the semis on Sunday.

Rigby blanked MIT's Ashley Teng (6-0, 6-0) in the round of 16 early Saturday, then won 6-3, 6-2 against Amy Cui from Amherst in the quarterfinals. She'll go up against Caitlyn Ferrante of Wesleyan in the semis. Rigby is attempting to make the finals at the MIT Invitational for the second straight time after doing it as a freshman in 2019.
