Sean MacDonald is in his first season as the assistant coach for the Jumbo women's cross country and track & field program.
Originally from South Burlington, Vermont, he graduated from Bowdoin College in 2019 with a degree in Economics and Government. At Bowdoin, he received first-team All-NESCAC, All-Region, and All-American honors during the 2018 cross country season. He was a captain during the 2017 and 2018 cross country seasons. In track, he qualified for the NCAA indoor championships in the distance medley relay and set the Bowdoin Farley Fieldhouse record in the 3,000 meter run in 2018. He competed in events ranging from the 400 meters to the 10k, including cross country.
In addition to competing with the Polar Bears, he worked in the Bowdoin Track & Field Office as an administrative assistant where he helped to coordinate athlete and meet entry logistics. He ran the Vermont City Marathon the day after graduating from Bowdoin, finishing with a time of 2 hours and 33 minutes. He is currently training for the Boston Marathon in April 2020. MacDonald is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Sports Leadership from North Central College.
